August 1-14 is the Spasovka or Dormition Fast. We prepare for the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God with fasting and up our game with prayer and good works. A couple ways to do this will be celebrating the Paraklesis of the Mother of God, a service of supplication and healing. I will also be hearing confession or just listening before those services.
